Big Adventures for tiny paws
There is something very special about the first big car ride. Little noses pressed against their crates, wide eyes wondering what on earth mum has planned for them today. Today was the babies first vet visit. It was vaccinations, microchips, DNA swabs and the clinic staff who immediately fell in love with them. I mean… who wouldn’t.
This first vet appointment is such an important checkpoint in their young lives. We are not just putting needles in and ticking boxes. We are making sure each puppy is a picture of health and is developing exactly as they should. Bites are checked. Hearts are listened to. We confirm their weights, testicles for the boys, joints, bellies. Every little detail matters. And I could not be happier. They are strong, they are healthy, and they handled the whole thing like absolute troopers. The boys proudly have their testicles, and the whole litter is thriving with bright, promising futures ahead.
Vaccinating puppies plays a huge role in keeping them safe. Puppies are vulnerable to diseases like parvo and distemper well before their immune system is fully developed. Vaccinations give them the protection they need to explore the world confidently and safely. It is one of the most important gifts an owner can give a growing puppy.
Microchipping is another essential step. It is their voice if they ever find themselves lost. No matter where life takes them, that tiny chip helps ensure they can always be traced back home. It is peace of mind for everyone who loves them.
Then there is the Orivet DNA screening. This is not just about identifying who is who in the litter. It helps us understand their genetic health, breed traits, potential carrier status for inherited conditions, and even what colour genes they carry. We do this because responsible breeding means planning with the highest level of knowledge. It allows us to make informed decisions that support long term health and wellbeing, not just for this litter but for future generations of MAYUMBRA puppies.
Watching them today, their little tails wagging and their bravery shining through, I felt that familiar wave of pride. These puppies are not just meeting milestones. They are showing us exactly who they are becoming. Confident. Curious. Resilient.
The car ride home was much quieter. Full bellies. Tired eyes. Snuggled together in a puppy pile. A big day for little paws, and one more beautiful chapter in their story.
And just like that… we are officially one paw step closer to the big wide world waiting for them.
